Renewable Newstead has appointed a project co-ordinator to work with the committee as it moves closer to providing Newstead with 100per cent renewable energy.

Local business owner and community member Kirsty Mackay was appointed after a call for expressions of interest in the part-time role.

Genevieve Barlow, one of many volunteers working to make the project happen, said Kirsty’s appointment was an important step as the project gathers pace on the back of a $1m pledge from the Victorian Government to develop to a small-scale solar park that will deliver non-polluting energy to all at attractive prices.
