Renewable Newstead (RN) has chosen the company Energy Forms to help us develop a state government planning application for a local, small-scale solar farm to generate renewable energy for our community.

Energy Forms will provide specialist planning support, including site assessment and development of a planning application to the Victorian Government. They were one of 16 companies that responded to RN’s call for expressions of interest (EOIs) late last year, to provide planning services.

In its EOI and subsequent interview with RN, Energy Forms demonstrated a great  understanding of the Newstead project, especially the history and underlying principles. Energy Forms has proven experience in delivering planning support and development application services for renewable energy, clean technology and sustainability projects across Australia.

The Newstead Community project continues to move forward after local landholders expressed interest in providing land for the solar farm in response to RN’s call.

The Victorian Government has granted RN $1M for the project after RN’s feasibility study demonstrated a commercially viable model to shift our town to 100 per cent renewable energy.

The RN committee is now working through next steps to assess possible sites for the solar farm.  Its meetings, on the first Monday of each month, are open to community members.
