I find this idea particularly exciting and find it hard to believe it was only two weeks ago that I posted some other breakthrough in this area.
Why is this so exciting? The fuel produced will power existing cars and trucks and planes – in effect the entire transport fleet becomes carbon-neutral because the CO2 they produce can be turned back into fuel.
Clearly this idea, like all the CO2 consuming ideas that Tim Flannery draws attention to in Atmosphere of Hope, need truly massive scaling. To appreciate the scale of the effort consider all the oil refineries in the world and then some! But this process has to begin somewhere.
